EGR probe.
Anyone think this might work instead of drilling and tapping the manifold?

Inline on the input hose, which is silicone.... cut hose, clamp and insert the probe?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

What are you trying to measure?

EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation and is an emissions control device that is commonly blanked off or deleted.

If you want to measure coolant temp or control an electric fan, then the picture you attached is the item to use, fitted by cutting the hose and inserting inline.

If you mean EGT or Exhaust Gas Temperature, then drilling the manifold between the head and the turbo to insert the probe is your only option. Silicone hose cannot withstand the temperature in an exhaust system - anthing up to 720°C before the turbo, which is the temp you don't want your turbo to exceed!

Hope that helps

Paul
