Agreed value insurance.
Due to trip to the local dealers for a couple of warranty issues and after a chat with a salesman it would appear that my Defender is worth a great deal more than to them and me than the actual book price (By a considerable amount).

So my question is.... does anyone know of an insurance company who will give agreed value insurance on a Defender just shy of three years old, at present I can only find companies that will insure agreed value on vehicles manufactured upto and including 2000.

A Plan - they are a site sponsor. I've just changed over to them for both my 110 UTE XS and Series 2A. Both are on agreed value policies. You will need to get the underwriter agreement (KGM from memory), so will be necessary to send a few photos and some justification. They are understanding as regards modifications etc, and seem very accommodating.

I am in the process of trying to get an agreed value from Adrian Flux with whom I am insured. They use a Danish company called Qudos. I asked for an assesment /agreed price thinking they would assess the motor at what its market value would be regardless of what I paid for it. After paying £42 all I got back was them stating that they agreed with the price I paid. which as in your case was not what I wanted. On complaining I was told to use an independant assessor. They suggested The Institute of Automotive Engineers. who just assess the state of the vehicle not its value. Also tried Hooper Assessors in Liverpool again the do not give valuations.
I am still looking. but will try A PLan though

most owners clubs can value them. Ask them if they would accept a valuation from a Land Rover dealer.

I have an agreed value cover through Adrian Flux for my '05 Defender.
I just have to send seven current photos to them on each renewal.

Hi A PLan
I do agree you have a good rep with people on the forum and I will be contacting you next year.

I am in the process of getting a valuation from Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors. Would their valuation be acceptable to A Plan when I renew my insurance early next year. Note it has a Cat D insurance tag.

For others information I have been told by the assessors that a cat D is valued at 20% less than standard market value.

I also notice that Land Rover International mag do not include the XS in their valuations. Why is this?

Hi Foggydave,

Apologies I didn't get a notification of your reply, a valuation like this will be great to support the value you're looking to agree on the policy - most insurers will also require the photos of the vehicle in addition - these can just be emailed over to us Smile hope to have you on board next year!

Thanks
