Seies 3 at Angia Car Auctions
https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic/sa...eries-iii/

Estimate is £19 - £21k

Restoration is an expensive business, but does this estimate seem optimistic fo an S3?

It does look very nice, and someone has spent a lot of time and money on it,
But personally I don’t think Series 3 prices are there just yet?

Might be wrong though? you never know at auction, it all depends who’s in the room!

Be an interesting one to watch. Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

I have to say that that one does look stunning, at least superficially it is better than new, and if the bits you can't see are as good as those you can it has had a lot spent on it.

Personally I think it is a shame that it has been fitted with the "export" style tilt with the hideous (and fragile) side windows, it would look much better with the traditional tilt, but that is an easy change to change (and probably wouldn't bother most people anyway).

As Ian says, an interesting one to watch.

The detail is superb, it’s been a painstaking restoration and IMO if it could be bought at that estimate would be a good buy. Just think of the man hours and parts cost that’s gone into it.

The good thing going for it, is not many people rebuild 3s to that standard, so it is quite uneque,
if your after a top notch 3, this could be the one.

I would love to see it make the 20k mark! Very Happy 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

You've got to admit it does look good. I agree with Blackwolf about the tilt though. Let's see if it breaks the 20k barrier Question Defender 90XS SW

Someone has taken a bit of care over that.

(Assuming SIII's had that brake fluid reservoir).

The problem with value is that it is a Series III.

Use it, scratch it or let it lose that out-of-the-box look, and it will be just another SIII.

However there are a lot of "I bought it because I could" people about, who don't necessarily obsess about value.

Please tell us what it makes!

Those wheels and tyres ruin it for me. Obviously new Defender take-offs, even showing the poor over-spray on the spare. Some proper Avon Traction Mileage would set that off a treat.

Does anyone know where the tailgate mat comes from? I can see it says autograph on it.
I quite fancy modifying one for my series one. 🙂
