Puma/Td5 SW rear door lock barrel replacement
Bought a late Td5 station wagon rear door in preparation for a project I'm planning & it came with the door lock but no key. Unlike the older style doors where the lock barrel can easily be removed by pushing down the plunger through hole in the housing that is easily accessible once the latch is removed from the door, the ones that use the ignition key have a longer barrel & the plunger is inside the box on the back of the latch.

A search online only produced the advice to drill the rivets & remove the cover which was not an option for me as it was too much of a faff! So I did a bit of poking around & found it is possible to access the hole that the plunger engages in by using a small pick through the 3/4" slot in the case - the hole is offset from the slot so it needs something thin to be able to go in at an angle.

Put a screw into the key slot, pushed the plunger down & pulled the lock out in a matter of seconds, job done and no longer need to think about buying a new one. Happy days Very Happy

Does anyone know what the part number is for this later style rear door lock? I would like to fit a longer barrel but currently have the short type.

Thanks,

Tom

Can't say whether this is accurate or not but this is what LR Cat shows for a 2007 onwards Defender.
