Transmission rear oil seal - weeping
Just been informed on a vehicle health check at main dealer that the rear oil seal on the transmission is 'weeping' - but they said its nothing to worry about.

Its a 2015 Defender XS 110, and I have the extended warranty. Should I be demanding this be fixed under warranty, or is it truly something not to worry about?

It depends what they mean by transmission rear oil seal.

The gearbox output seal or the transfer box rear output seal?

If it's the transfer box output seal then there is a risk it'll contaminate the handbrake.

As I remember from the JLR extended warranty I had on my x-type it only covered oil leaks where a major assembly had to be removed to rectify it. Transfer box output seal doesn't really need that to do it. It's also hit and miss as to what they deem to be an "oil leak", damp probably won't count, but dripping will.
