United Kingdom 2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Orkney Grey
Well, I really enjoyed that video! But such a shame there was not even the merest wisp of a mention for a new Defender. Good old LR, they get so much so right and then so much so wrong! But I still love them! Here's to another 70 years! Thumbs Up James

Generally very disappointing - just a re-hashed marketing film.

On the plus side, VBH... Laughing Darren

Won't be getting that 30 minutes back... :/

They didn't even get their facts right. First 4x4 with ABS? Erm, nope. Not a Land Rover. Wrong British brand.

And why do they keep lining up Defenders with their current models like they still exist?

So I'm not the only one who was disappointed. Sad

Brand management has lost the lineage and celebration of the vehicles of what made the name and brought them world attraction. Instead they used it to milk the PR sales machine and bordered on sycophantic celeb gushing at the end.

There is a large market of utility double cabs in which JLR could have a decent slice it's not all premium this and that. I couldn't help notice that they spent a lot of time raving about the range rover.

Anyone notice a distinct lack of freelander coverage?? The vehicle to first have the HDC, to breakaway from beam axles, not have a lowrange gearbox What the hell went wrong there?

The disco sport might be the big seller, here's a hint It's because people think it's trendy to have a piece of the celeb JLR pie and maybe because it's the flaming cheapest. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest

And the P38 has been airbrushed out of the picture!! The only one I spotted was right at the start, the police car parked outside the building.

Or maybe because it fits many people’s needs very well, it’s capable, small yet roomy, versatile and it’s still maintains a good amount of exclusivity...not to mention it’s the best looking little SUV ON THE ROAD. It may be the most inexpensive vehicle in the lineup but ours was still above $50k and we could’ve bought PLENTY of other very nice vehicles for that money. As much as many of you don’t want to admit it, LR wants to increase its market share and the Disco Sport is helping to get more LRs into the hands of folks who want them. As much as you HATE success, it’s still going to happen with JLRs current plan. Get used to it. Smile

There were lots of vehicles that didn't get a mention: nothing military, no forward controls, very little on the Discovery, which arguably saved Land Rover from extinction in the 90's.

And when was the 110 ever called the one hundred and ten? Darren

Funny that. After 7 Land Rovers in the last 17 years, I've just bought a Volvo XC60 T5 as it makes the disco sport look under-specced and overpriced.

I can’t imagine a better time to reveal the new defender - what a massive wasted opportunity. Rolling Eyes
