Yes, although I've been in Aussie sinse 1958 when my parents emigrated here, I'm very proud of my English/Welsh heritage.
My Grandfather was the C.Of.E. Vicar in Rhymney from 1911-1947, was there during the depression, helped out on the soup kitchens etc, pretty tough times in the mines in those days. I've got the gold pocket watch He received upon his retirement.

Hi Pickles

Nice to have things to remember them by, I've got a pen knife and a hardy perfect fishing reel from mine and I use the knife every day. I've had a few hairy moments when I thought I'd lost it and a few times I've put it away so that I don't but of course you have to use them so back in the pocket it goes!
My son and I were fishing recently and I gave him an old fashioned set up, rod and reel.... yes that same hardy reel and he loved it, thought it was the best set-up he'd ever used. Perhaps that's why the Defender is still so well liked. If it's right it's right!
