Can't seem to see for looking, so I'll post a dumb question.
Is there an earth point at the front on the passengers side near the radiator or headlight? (pic would help) I know there's a couple on the firewall and on the chassis below the firewall. I'm being pedantic and wiring in a set of spotlights. I like to use the vehicle's earth points if I can, makes for a neater job. I couldn't see anywhere in the wiring or workshop information either apart from the firewall points in the engine bay. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi

I could swear i have seen one around the front behind headlights.
What are you thinking of running? I put the winch to the back and when i fit the spotlights ill run their earth backwards to the battery to. Mike |

I'm running a heavier wiring harness to the lights and putting in a pair of 240HID Lightforce. The whole lot will go through two relays - one for high/low lights triggered of the standard circuit and another for the two spotlights. Means I can also safely upgrade the bulbs in the headlights (if I decide to), see how brighter they become with a better feed direct from the battery.
I did the same as you with the winch, went to the earth on the chassis under the battery box. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi

Be interested in that set up - sounds good. Me im thinking about the Warn HID or std spots (ive always liked them so no debate there fore me) but my plan would be to run my own earth and live up from the battery to the new kit.

All finished, here's a quick pic off the phone camera.
I used the small bolt behind the A/C condenser (accessed via headlight) and power steering reservoir. I think it forms part of the bonnet stay catch mount and radiator mount. What I installed is this: http://www.traxide.com.au/HL_info.html The Traxide kit is very good as it comes with everything you need. For me it also cheaper to buy than separately buying all the bits and pieces as I have to order in relays and such like. I've mounted the relays behind the passenger's side headlight. Never seen anyone in Australia who sells the Warn lights and the standard LR spots cost more than my Lightforce HID's did. Now for the next job... I'm setting up the Defender for a 3-4 month trip around Australia next year so lots to get done. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi

Me i like the warn lights (although expensive) dual side light full beam HID etc depending on the version - novetly expensive for a light though. Mike |
