As a precaution and hopefully sort out a few clunks along the way, I've decided to replace the output shaft. Well, get my indy to do the work. Reading this thread it seems sensible to do the clutch at the same time.

I was thinking of getting:
Output shaft from Ashcroft.
Clutchfix, Clutch Plate and cover with clutch slave cylinder and updated adaptor and valve assembly from 4x4 overlander.

Is there anything else I will need or worth doing at the same time?

It's a 2010 2.4, 75000 miles.

I did mine just a few weeks ago and I got exactly what you have said, minus the new valve assembly as mine had it already. Mid 2014 they changed I think.

Shouldn’t need anything else.

Ok Guys that have done this replacement.
Can it be done on a hoist after removing transfer box?
I did 5th gear bearing on a td5 by just removing transfer.

Zed, I'm looking at doing the same soon, with the same components, but don't have a decent indie to use unfortunately.

If you don't mind, could you PM me rough cost of labour they're looking to charge you? Want to be armed before I go to a few local places who are not Landy specialists.

Not sure what you mean by a "hoist" (4 post lift, perhaps?) but it can be done (on the ground) after removing the transfer box, leaving the main gearbox in situ.

You don't need a hoist,I did mine a few weeks ago by dropping a strap down the cubby box hole and lifting the transfer off and back on myself. It's not a hard job.

Joking apart, it's very reassuring to know that although this fault is a right pain, it's clearly within the capabilities of a home based mechanic to sort it out properly.

Awesome post Joe,you made me laugh. A strap around the transfer and up over and across the shoulders and plenty of grunt,the hard part was shifting left and right to line the splines up,but once you do that and get the top threads through the holes your home and hosed.

And it is a driveway job,then again I've done two clutches and three adapters so you get better with practice.I also made a retainer,a copy of the plastic one out of steel and welded it to the cup after filling joint with grease and sealing it with high temp high pressure sealant.All three of mine failed after the joint separated releasing the grease and the last 3/4'' of splines stripped,it can't happen now.

Anyone that has fitted the clutchfix clutch, does it rattle at all?

After about 3 days I noticed that I sometimes get a rattle. Quick dip of the clutch and it stops. Normally when I start the car, or when I go to neutral at the lights.

It’s really intermittent and I guess 1 in 10 times of the above situations it give a rattle.

And thoughts.

Didn't mean to post yet, on my phone doing this, so a little awkward.
Anyway, yes, I've had that and it's not good news.
The only good part is that the rattle is apparently 'purely cosmetic'.
Have a word with Ben Williams from Clutch fix, see if he can help you.

I will give them a call and see what they think. As I say, it was only a few days old before I heard the rattle. (Fitted about a month ago)

It’s not a full death rattle by any means, but the original clutch didn’t make the noise.

On the advice from my indy I went for a LOF clutch instead. The output shaft was changed but showed minimal wear.
