2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Keswick Green

Engine Light

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year! My puma has been sat for around a month whilst I was on holiday over Christmas. It has been off the battery for this period as it was getting a bit low due to lack of use and I didn't want it firing the backup sounder whilst I was away if the battery dropped fully. So I put the battery back on it today and fired it up. Started fine, idled nicely, tiny bit of smoke at first but that's understandable due it's time off, that quickly stopped. Left it running for 10 mins and decided to take it for a short spin. When I got in, I noticed the orange engine light was on. I turned it off and started it again but the light remained. So I took it out for a short drive, everything seemed fine, No signs of any engine problems, ran it upto temp and brought it back, gave it some revs also just in case it needed blasting out a little.

Has anyone experienced this before after taking a battery off? There was no light before I went away, so I can only presume it has something to do with this?

Any help greatly appreciated,

First thing you (always) should do would be reading the error-codes from it an come back for interpretation. There might be a chance that it is caused through a "stiff" EGR. But that normally equalizes when running it. Relating codes will be P1103 and P0404

^^^^ Indeed, I would imagine that maybe the case probably a bit 'sticky' after being left a while.

That's a presumption of course, but you need to find the fault code(s) that is causing the EML to illuminate. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___
