Quick check -
https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles/vehic...taxVehicle tax exemptions for vehicles built before 1977, and MOT exemptions for vehicles built before 1960. ... to be made exempt: mobile cranes and pumps; road rollers, works trucks and digging machines; agricultural machines and mowing machines; snowploughs and gritting vehicles; electric vehicles; steam vehicles. Suggests that series 3 needs an MOT.  Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

These has been a glitch with some taxation on the DVLA site. If you are MOT Exempt and the website insists on a MOT, you may have to use the Post Office until the DVLA fix it.
Anyway that is what the DVLA have told me  1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue

Cars built before 1st Jan 1960 are MOT exempt.
So you will need an MOT. Mot rules are changing next year to a lower age threshold. How old is your S3, Is it tax exempt yet? As it's the first time for you, you will have to tax it in a post office, After that you can then do it online. you still have to tax it every year even if it is exempt, All of this can be sorted out over the PO counter. My 80" had neither been taxed and MOTd since 1985, I had the mot class changed to historic and the tax exempt changed there and then. probably best to check but I understand these days insurance and road tax is 'optional' and only if you support Brexit and the conservatives is there any real initiative to pay.
article in news the other day - lady run over and killed in B'ham. Possibly 3 cars involved (albeit only 1 hit her) and at least 2 had no insurance. Next door neighbour had some building works done and the although the builders had what sounded like an Irish accent (probably a district of B'ham) they also had no insurance / road tax on their van. like I say I presume it's purely optional. |

I think I mentioned Road Tax too.  I just saw an opportunity to blame something on Brexit which appears to be the scape goat for everything.
oh and the fact that decent people seem to be concerned about formalities such as road tax but unfortunately a hell of a lot of people don't seem to think that and insurance is required......and I mean a hell of a lot of people.  |

I'm sure that I have read on a Government website that a rolling MOT exemption for 40 year old vehicles is coming in next April (2018).

we got yam yam here and I think I once saw an oxford dictionary but I think that's about as close as we get to English. I often have to give one of the school kids a lift and the language she speaks is mushed soup! sorry starting to go a little  |
