According to the workshop manual, you can remove the EGR and generally give it a good cleaning with a wire brush and a bit of sand blasting. Actually very easy to do. This is of course only relevant to the 2.25 diesel 88/109 sold in Australia

I cleaned my EGR valve in a tub of hot soapy water, left to soak over night.
Then used a small wire brush to get baked on crud off. I then left it to soak in WD40 for a few hours, looked mint afterwards, then i removed it! |
