Just started stripping out the DCPU for sound proofing this weekend. Trying to fold down the Puma style rear seats to make them easier to remove, but not happening. Do they work like Puma middle row seats or are they fixed? If they work the same way I can neither unlock them to fold them down or pull them forward, single side or pair. Help please.

My mrs has the dcpu at work at the mo but I seem to remember they are bolted back in the top two corners. I need to put seat covers on hers so will have to hit this problem soon too

^^^ Hello Both,
I'd heard about these brackets before beginning tackling them, but cannot for the life of me find them. Further, the seats rock slightly if pulled/pushed, so one would think the brackets are non existant or inefficient? Are they obvious? If so, they're not on mine. If I look to the left or right of the seats, between the seat edge and C Frame I cannot see anything. Are they hidden in a typically Land Roverish spot behind the seat? Invisible, inaccessible, incomprehensible? ![]() I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

^^^^ Mmmm, I wonder if Mrs MK1 would allow 'it's been a long day' as an excuse from you for a mind-melt? Methinks not. Suggest you take a loooong hard look at yourself and get back to me with some thoughts or advice I can use.

IIRC (it was a long time ago that I remove mine) there is a bracket on each side of each seat back, at about the level of the rear bulkhead capping. For each bracket, there is a part which bolts to the seat, and a part which bolts to the capping, then a setscrew joins the two parts together.
I seem to recall removing the setscrew to allow the backs to tip, then deciding that the brackets (a) were useless, and (b) would require me to cut slots in the seat covers I was fitting if I wanted to reause them, so I removed the bits from the seat and the bits from the bulkhead. As far as I know there was never any other locking mechansim fitted, so operating the tipping lever at the outer lower corner of the seat should allow the seat to tip if the brackets are not fitted. If the seats wobble but don't tip, perhaps the brackets are present but loose? It was a very low-tech mechanism and not hard to spot! If you can slip a binbag or similar over the single rear seat back all the way down to the hinge, then you have no brackets. If the brackets are fitted, the binliner will get snagged on the brackets and won't gfo all the way down. |

If you peer down through the rear quarter windows you should see a bracket that lines up with one on the seat back.
Mine didnt have a bolt through but I put one in on both sides to help with the rattling. I think they are m8. If youve got some fitted the seat wont budge. Nick |

Damn that's a good idea. I'd have you with me if I ever needed to escape from Colditz. Although I believe it's a musuem with some accommodation now, so not sure why I'd be effecting an escape using a bin bag. ![]() I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I think that Item 27 in the picture below is the part that attaches to the bulkhead.

Bulkhead brackets (I can't find the part numbers or pictures of the bit bolted to the seat back that this connects to):
