Just returned from LR who fitted a new rear Axle A-frame ball joint. The Tech said the original one was not badly worn.
And the 'pop' still exists. We went for a drive and also in the carpark listened. He suspects that the next culprit may be the rear right drive shaft spline slipping a little upon torque application. Anyone experienced this sort of failure before?... and how long between the odd 'pop' and drive failure. I don't do any hard off road work... mostly normal driving. 2008, 2.4 Puma 110, Silver, 7 seats, sunroof, Winter pack, not enough mud on it! |

I had both rear drive shafts replaced under warranty- splines badly worn. The noise was more of a clunk than a pop. Not really sure why they're such a problem on defender.
