Gap under doors
The front of the doors (bottom edge) has a hole (both sides) you can just about see daylight through.

A quick check reveals a rubber seal running along the bottom edge then a gap and a block of some spongey rubber stuff - we've had occasional damp patches in the passenger foot well but I put this down to water dripping in when you open the doors.

Is it worth sealing this gap and if so, how?! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

There is a rubber block that is glued to the door to fill this gap, it soon falls off. The gap then sucks in water especially when the window is cracked open Thumbs Up Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Put a bigger bit of foam in so when you close the door it squishes up and completely fills the gap. Always has to be done here otherwise you die of dust on unsealed roads. No it doesn't fall off not if you do it properly.

New Defenders come from the factory now with a gap you can see the road through. All of them. Should be sorted on the PDI.

That foam tape is always falling off on mine. It gets wet and just gives up the ghost. I've had the dealer replace it twice.

Couldn't one just plug the gap with silicone or something, like you would do in the bath?

Are you talking about the foam 'draught stopper' between the bottom sill and the floorpan, the blocks at the bottom corners of the doors?

I am indeed. It seems that as soon as it gets wet, the adhesive loses it's grip and it falls out.
