I hate these websites where registering requires a mobile phone number and refuses to progress until you enter one.
I don't have a mobile phone

I think that both parties involved are compelling arguments in favour of birth control.

People who cannot be courteous (or aware) enough to pull over when they are driving well below the speed limit on a mountain road. Big Cry

The silly season has arrived, with tourists seemingly too terrified of the bends on a standard A road (bone dry, good quality surface) that they trundle along well below the recommended 50km limit. By the time we get to the bottom, they may have as many as 25 cars behind them, (including 8-wheeler tippers and coaches able to keep up). No idea what they are expecting to happen, as it is not as if this is the Khyber Pass, but neverthless they dribble along.

As they are either entirely unaware of anything but their journey or else have completely frazzled brains and should not be driving anyway, they make no effort to pull over. OK, we 'all share the road' and they have every right to be where they are, but pulling over is as much a sign of good driving as anything in the Highway Code, as you should be aware of the prevailing conditions and drive with a view to cars around you. Driving too slowly makes people irate and risk doing rash things, dangerous on mountain roads when you're being overtaken by a 18 year-old nutter in a 106 older than he is. So why can they not pull over?

It is 5Kms from the centre of my town to the bottom of the hill, single lane all the way, but large enough for two coaches to pass. Nothing scary and no cause for driving at almost half the speed limit. So if you are travelling at a pace that means you have no need to brake when you reach the 30km school-zone, you are definitely going too slowly and should have been corteous enough to pull over in one of the seven (yes, seven) lay-byes or bus-stops along the way.

Getting a little cheesed off with the recent trend of cold calling, the big companies are using the phones in a way that they come up as a local call on your phone, ie it is prefixed with the local code so you think it's someone local. The big giveaway is when you answer and there's a delay and you can hear clicking on the line as the computer generated call is being connected. The latest one was "You were involved in an accident.........".
At least with my mobile I can block the number quite easily, until the next one.

Cold Callers:

When they ask for Mr X say they have just moved. Then if they ask if you want xxxx say you rent.
When they say you have had an accident: say I haven't a car.
Ditto computer.

Works for us and our cold callers are now down to one or two a week.

Cold Callers

When we moved into our converted church we got all the double glazing cold calls.

Can you do double glazed 8ft by 3ft leaded arched windows -- yes sir.
Can you do double glazed 8ft by 3ft leaded arched windows, some with stained glass -- not sure sir I will have to check.
You will get all the appropriate planning and listed building consent as we are talking about a listed building here - hasty apologies and end of call Thumbs Up

Not been bothered by glazing companies for years now !

I kept getting pestered by cavity wall filling companies.
In the end I invited them all to come and give me a quote.

Drove past what I presume was a council run pay and display car park today.

OK penalties exist if you do not conform to their parking restrictions. So far so good.

Only vehicles with GVW of 30cwt allowed.

Hmmm I wonder how many people these days know what 30 cwt actually means!

Most medium size cars will weigh more then 30 cwt, all large cars and most 4x4 would have a GVW exceeding 30 cwt. Let alone the Ford Transits etc parked in the car park!

It's 1½ tons, far easier than 1500 Kg
We still have beer served in pints. Do you want to change that as well?
