TD5 Differences
Hi

Im new to this defender game but have a few questions my car is Jan 2003 TD5 so late 2002 MY i assume. Anyway all the parts sites indicate there was a change around 2002 but im trying to figure out what the differences are between pre and post 2002?

Visual differences include the prominent centre dash console and the rear door changing to the later all steel type, identifiable by the rounded corners to the glass. Mechanically, the engine was updated to become the 15P model, which saw emissions control improved to meet Euro3 spec (essentially an EGR valve) and revisions to the electronics to improve low speed throttle response. Darren

I thought all Td5's had a EGR only the 15P has an exhaust gas cooler at the front off the engine.
The 15P also has steel dovels where the 10P had plastic ones to keep the head alined.
A 15P has a three potentiometer throttle pedal sensor and the 10P only a 2 potentiometer sensor This should give a better reading and less problems.
The ECU also changed and with the later one you can get it tuned by software and the ECU is Cruise control ready.

As mine is a 15P driveline in a 10P chassis with plenty off 1984 body parts I am sure I missed some changes.
