Interesting thread.

I have bought some of the Econ/super seal connectors and hadn't a clue how to assemble them as no instructions were enclosed. The instructions I found on line state not to crimp the seal to the connectors as in PaulMc's photo.
I will have to invest in a crimping tool. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

I've used pliers for crimping, the front crimp direct to copper, the rear crimp direct around the wire sheath.
The rubber seal, push over from behind.
A tiny dab of superglue between the seal and housing so it never moves.

If I ever needed to replace, I'd just replace the connector anyway as theyare cheap.

Okay, maybe not the professional way of doing it, but I see no merits in buying a tool fir single use.
Especially as in around 5 years now I've had zero issues with any of mine.

Personally I trust my own judgement on grip of crimp more than a tool, on bigger wiring get yes, I feel a tool is best but I don't see it being the case with these.

But this is just my view, I've never had any problem in years. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

Here is the manual from AMP which shows the rubber being crimped on.

I didn't bother on mine as I wanted the rear crimp to catch the insulation to hold it good.

Just a heads up I would buy a spare packet of the silver connectors as whenever I have tried criping those tiny connectors I have always ruined a few of them. Mind you I am a bit ham fisted Laughing For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..
