Going from memory you fit the hinge to the bulkhead first then bonnet
on to the hinges. |

Use blankets/ padding to protect the rest of the bodywork from the hood locking hook
Also probably easier with two people |

I have a set of Optimill hinges. I havenīt fitted them yet, but have contemplated how to do it.
In my humble opinion, it is going to be a safer and less complicated job, if you lift the bonnet off the vehicle (which requires two people) and lay it on a rug, or some cardboard (boxes) to fit the new hinges. Whatever the hinge, you are going to need access to both above and below the bonnet, and you need to remove the old hinge from the bulkhead fixings anyway. To remove the bonnet, you just need to tilt it up to about 60° and lift vertically. Keep in mind Puma bonnets are made of steel, and at a guess, probably weigh about 30 kg. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Well I managed to fit the hinges last weekend, more by trial and error than by good planning. No pictures I'm afraid but as suggested by others it would be much easier with two people and lifting the bonnet off (I didn't and it made the job quite difficult).
I managed to fit the hinges one at a time to the bulkhead 1st then bolt them to the bonnet from underneath, just make sure to protect all your paintwork with towels and padding beforehand. |
