apparently mines u/s

but I'm not entirely convinced (hopefully I'm wrong)?

symptoms being temp gauge off the scale, not rev counter, engine in limp mode and LRA / Dealer computer wont talk to my car?

There should be no problems getting hold of an ECU. As was previously mentioned, they're still in production (same ecu) so your dealer should be able to arrange a line pull (Take one off the production line). Idea

Regards,

Gary.

Gary I couldn't agree more - SHOULD be able to pull one of the production line......

but does anyone know if they will actually do this?

thanks.

Speak to them, and ask them if they've requsted a line pull. If not, why not!?

It's a Vehicle Off Road scenario as well, so should have high priority.

Welcome to my world!
My 90 is on its THIRD ecu ... original one 'died' after two years, replacement lasted 7 months, waiting to see if 3rd one lasts the distance.

likewise, the first time mine was VOR for 3 weeks, LR wouldnt line pull a unit , had to wait til supplies were in.

Apparantly its not that uncommon on pumas..

My dealers have fitted a few, aparently some are damaged by a dodgy earth on the bulkhead im told, and the rest have had that many programming updates they are full and can not be writen any more.

The chances LR will take any part of the line is so remote i would bet my defender on it!

Production parts and dealer/warranty/retail parts are totally different (even in how hey are delivered) not to mention all the processes that go with it. Mike

well it shouldn't have had any updates yet.........
the bulkhead earth looked just fine - lra had a look at that.

being solid state and all that I'd have thought if they work from the offset they'd be pretty reliable.

off topic a bit here -
Pete just for your info re; the 3 ltr - runs lovey on 50% bio Whistle

hmmmm

new ecu fitting - but still no communication?

you might struggle to believe this as its only 3 months or so old but......one of the spare electrical connectors on the wiring in the rear off/s fell off due to corrosion !!

me thinks there's quite possibly other problems with the wiring loom - and this is where the problem lies.....not so much the components ie the ecu?

any thoughts - anyone else had issues with the wiring loom. the connector that fell of had serious corroision issues like you'd expect 12 months down the line if the joint had been left with a whole heap of flus left on it ....all greenie like.

Mine was in Matfords Exeter for 4 weeks Alarm and Imoberliser ecus would not talk to Engine managment and therefore it would not crank or then fire up. New looms fitted and eventualy every thing started to talk to each other and the engineers laptops.
I turned up late one night there was 3 laptops plugged in ecus laying everywhere down the wings and 4 engineers scrating their heads, i just picked up some more tools from the back and left again leaving them to it If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
