Good question. I'll ask Martin and see what he says.

The deed is done, 5x 255/85/R16 KM2's purchased. Getting them delivered to me, then I'll get fitted locally.
Actually cheaper than those buy online and get fitted sites when you look into it. Looking forward to it. ![]() ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

Steve,
Do let us know what you think of then on the Puma, a comparison to the 235's and how it affects the gearing. I think they'll be great, with the extra low first and the torque of the engine. I run the 255 on my Ibex, td5 with a discovery transfer box, that combination is a bit too high geared, so looking to remap it. It was fine on 32" tyres. Good luck with the search for a wheel cover, I looked at importing the Bestop ones. What started out as a £25 purchase soon became £50 with tax, import duty, postage, U.K. VAT on the whole lot, then a duty handling fee from the carrier! Worldwide free trade would be a wonderful thing, except it never works for us when we want to do it ourselves. ![]() We are robbed by our own government as soon as they realised people were joining the world economy... |

DSC - I will indeed, Blackwolf here already has them so is better placed to comment.
IIRC the rolling radius is much the same, if anything making the speedo dead accurate compared to standard which is around 3% or a little less below actual speed. As you say, the Puma is low geared and mine has an Alive stage 1 map on it and also Blackwolf has another brand remap too. When I did see Blackwolf's I though how nice they looked. But at that time I already had 235's as no one knew they would be a trouble free fit going to 255 and had to get them quite quick as had a General Grabber puncture. They are awful tyre's! There are pros and cons between wider and narrower but I tend to think a little wider without excess is better. They look better, but that aside have less of a carving nature into the ground and have more tread on the road which will mean imo less treadblock wear. Esiecially on the front inner abs out shoulder wear. I've found the KM2 brilliant on road too, just don't drive like hell in the wet and expect to stop on a die which frankly shouldn't be done anyway. So, as long as you always respect wet weather they are great, and last very very well. Kit - I've messaged Martin, he may or may not be interested. As of yet I don't know. There is also another company in Devon called Sign Maker which does anything you like on a personalised basis. You are not talking cheap though, but I laud about £80 for a gloss one and graphic in about 2011 so I wouldn't complain. Soft ones are often a bit less, and they can be customised too. It also keeps prying eyes off at least the soare, and you can hide locks or whichever devic underneath. ![]() ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

I haven't looked into the wheel covers much at the moment or heard anything either.
My 5x 255 KM2's arrived today, excellent fast service from D44 as usual. ![]() ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

Okay, so they were fitted Tuesday, I went down to D44 for it with my trailer as it was a great excuse to get down there anyway.
![]() They've done a brilliant job, no more visible weights they are instead on the inside of the rim but clamp on. I was pleased to see on the whole the rim face where the factory weights were there was relatively little weight damage. The chap did have a bit of an issue getting the bead to set as the inner bead was close, probably due to storage. But got them sorted with a ratchet strap. (He did work very hard as they are bloomin' heavy and through his lunch hour.) Just got to adjust the steering lock stops now as they will rub on full lock. When I'm all sorted in a day or two I'll take a pic. I must say I refer them, and the ride seems a little smoother and floater over ruts etc. A little more road hum but doesn't worry me at all. Spare wheel wise, they JUST fit and clear the wiper as I adjusted the wiper arm previously. Only with about 2mm to spare though. ![]() I do think when I get a cover I will need to adjust the carrier though or it will foul the wiper. Not much trouble. Over all, I'm over the moon. Many thanks to Blackwolf for all the valuable information which helped me decide to go up from 235 to 255. I prefer them even more. ![]() ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

Well I haven't washed it yet, too hot in the sun and can't wax in it anyway. I did however take a look at the steering lock stops whilst up on stands. Ran the engine and onto full lock and shut off. They clear and don't rub Up off the ground but with my Defenders weight on they do slightly due to the sidewall. There just a few mm they could do with adjusting really, nothing super urgent. Annoyingly I didn't have the right spanner size, only an adjustable which is too large to fit in the lock nut gap.
Blackwolf do you know the size? I'll have to get a ring spanner for it. I think it looks like 17mm but you never know. 👍🏻 ___\âï¸Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

Apologies for adding so many posts here, just updates really.
![]() Got what I wanted done today more or less. The lock nuts for the steering stops are 18mm, not done that just yet. However, I do have photos. ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Wheel cover wise I'm going eventually for the soft one here: http://www.wheelcover.com/public_html/index1f.html £55 all in, thick semi glossy UV stable Vinyl. Had experience of these and they last and last, only had to get rid of my old one due to graphic fading that I put on and different size. They are Cutlers Originals branded. ___\âï¸Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

I now have the wheel cover, very pleased with it.
However, as mentioned before my spare only just fits now with no clearance to fit a cover or it will foul the wiper. ![]() Click image to enlarge So as Blackwolf suggests I need 10mm clearance approx to take into account the 235 /255 difference. I've bought three of these from FD: https://www.flatdoguk.com/spare-wheel-carr...pacers~915 Which are 5mm thick. And 10x of these washers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201040235144 In M16 (17 x 50 x 3mm.) So using 6 (2x on each stud.) of these washers between the OE flat nuts and the new FD nuts shoud give me 5mm + 3mm + 3mm = 11mm per stud clearance. If need be I can reduce it to 8mm or increase to 14mm. (Which may leave little room left of thread.) I will try and keep it as little clearance as possible which would be better, so may get away with 8mm but will have to see. So as soon as I get the chance I'll sort that out, and get my new cover on. But not doing it in this heat. At least I won't have the pain of undoing the original flat nuts. Just hope there is enough thread to play with. ![]() ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

All fitted today and job done, thought I'd take pics for those of you interested in here.
Very pleased with the cover, it's very nice and nicely made too. I got away with 8mm clearance in the end, which the least is the best so there is more thread available. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ___\âï¸Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |
