United Kingdom 2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Stornoway Grey
Without giving too many details away in the public domain, the car has spent two days with a local alarm specialist having a fully comprehensive alarm and immobiliser fitted, help me sleep a little at night. I've got another few layers of security in the pipeline too so I hope my defender isn't an easy target.

When I was under the car removing the side steps and steering guard for power coating I found lots of mud, so I bought myself an attahement for my karcher which rotates to get in all the nook and crannies, really recommend anyone. Happy to see my chassis is in good condition, although I am booked in for the full works with Chris:)

Never thought I'd need one of these to clean a car

But the defender is looking tidy Smile

The car is booked in to the paint shop next week to have the roof and arches painted gloss black. They will also be painting my rear cross memeber. So together with the power coated bits should look great next week !

Then it's on to the interior.... My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

The roof in gloss black will look good.

I personally would stick with the grey wheel spats, but Iīm sure there are fans of both variations.

Might be worthwhile having the back panels of the mirrors painted in gloss black, or grey. The original matt black coloured plastic fades, turning a porous grey colour remarkably quickly. Same thing with the crossmember and the standard front bumper. I had both painted in gloss Santorini. Just looks well finished, and cleans up nicely when washed!

I've got a pair of gloss black painted mirror covers to fit, I found exactly what you said!

I've also got a new front bumper to fit too, a britpart drl one.. I was thinking of having it painted gloss black too, do you recommend I do that? I guess they are powdercoated from new.

I have asked he paint shop to paint the rear xmember gloss too, is that a good idea from your experience? My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

I think the gloss black finish on both front and rear will look great. Thumbs Up on the mirrors!
Iīm going to have the mirror arm done next. They have corroded horribly, and this winter started to flake.
The tow bracket mount is also gloss, and I should have had the tow ball done at the same time. On the list.

To simplify my keys now I've got an aftermarket security system, I've now got an all in one key, which is a much neater solution even if you use the factory alarm and immobiliser system.

That integrated key looks really smart, who did you get to complete the work? Keith

Nice looking Landy. I tried calling a couple of companies to upgrade the alarm system from standard on mine but neither could help as it was 'a complicated process'. I'd be interested to know who you used on yours? 2002 Defender 110 CSW TD5

The key is available from two people, either http://www.remotekey.co.uk/land-rover/defender-2/

Or

https://tmdtuning.com/shop/defender-alarm-remote/

I personally got it from TMD. A local locksmith cut the key for me. My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

I ended up using this guy, his name is Dave. He is based in Hampshire so should work out ok.

Give him a try, he will certainly be able to do it and I would recommend him.
