Paintwork bubbling repair North Yorkshire
Hi all,

My 2005 90 is starting to show the usual signs of paintwork bubbling on the capping piece that runs around the rear tub, above the rear lights. It was bubbling when I bought it last year, but a loose piece of paint has now flaked off, so need to get it sorted. Wondered if anyone could recommend someone in the York / Scarborough / Malton area who would do a good job of sorting this out? Presume it just needs stripping back and respraying, but wondering if there is some primer product that could be used to reduce the chance of it happening again?

Rear crossmember is also starting to look a bit crappy after the bad weather and all the salt. Particularly the bolt heads on the tow bar. It's not bad, just surface rust, but would like to get it sorted out before it gets worse. Any advice for the best way of doing this? Should I just do it myself with a wire brush, red oxide and hammerite or get someone to do a better job? Also considering replacing the hinge bolts all round as they are starting to look a bit rubbish too. Have read mixed things about replacing with stainless, so what are the alternatives?

Suggestions, as always, greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Maddisons at Thirsk have a good reputation for competition machines.

I seem to recall the last time I was there a few years ago they had installed a paint booth

Their website is HERE

After a bit of searching over the last couple of weeks I came across a company in York called York 4x4 / Auto Refinishers. Don't know if anyone has used them / come across them before, but their experience of bodywork repair specific to Land Rovers appealed. I e-mailed the guy and he seems pretty helpful, and also seems to have a good amount of experience in dealing with rust through classic car restoration. Hoping to go through and see him within the next couple of weeks anyway to discuss what is required. Thought someone might be interested Thumbs Up

Take the panel off yourself, sand it down and get a local painter to respray it. You'll save money on labour you could probably do yourself...

heres a guide
