Replacement radio aerial
Has anyone here replaced their wing mounted aerial for an alternative type? The 300tdi 110 that I have has never had a stereo fitted, let alone an aerial. But Im hoping to resolve that soon. But which type?

Im thinking of mounting an adjustable (car park height restrictions) aerial to the rear of my 110, above and to the right of the tailgate door, running the cable inside where the roof joins the side panels, down the door pillar, along seat box and into cubby box.

Just popped into my local Halfrauds who explained that there isnt any permanent DAB aerial available yet and that I would need an FM aerial together with an additional magnetic DAB aerial. He said the industry isnt even sure if, or when, FM transmisions would be switched off.

So do I just buy an FM aerial, and has anyone mounted one above the rear tailgate door?

As per usuall Halfords baby fitters not knowing anything, yes you can get loads of combined dab fm amplified aerials, mine is mounted above the interior light easy to drill and run the cables down the l/h a pillar, it looks like a hatch back aerial flexes into car parks ok, got mine on the net its made by Blaupunkt, they also do stick on ones for inside the window telescopic ones etc etc. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Great, thanks mate.

Nice to know that combined DAB/FM aerials are available. I might have to mount on the roof as you have. Was only considering putting it above the tailgate door so that I could spot any leaks around it.

Cheers Thumbs Up
