CB Radio
Hi

I've looked on the forum, but didn't find any topics about it .... If there is please point me to it

I'm goig to buy, next month, a roof console and a CB radio

My problem is the antenna....I had a set on my 90Td5, but the antenna was on top of the roofrack ...I broke maybe 5 antennas, Santiago1200 ... very expensive! Big Cry Although that kind of antenna is big!

Does anyone around here have a CBradio fitted? Do you have pics of the solution for the antenna? Opinions on the best place to fit it ? Sizes you recomend? I have a 110DC ...
Thank you Regards
Joao

But the antenna should be placed on a higher spot (?). In my 110DC cant find a decent place to put it ... It must be in a relatively accessible place so that I can remove it, or someone will steal it!

Do you guys know the make and model of that antena and support ?

And is it any good ? Medium range, what, 5-7 miles ?

TY Regards
Joao

What do you mean, higher? Why? It's an ideal place. Easy to remove with a spanner.

its a thunderpole, and range is governed by the power of your radio, the conditions, the placement etc. I get about 5 miles which is more than enough for me.

I never got around to fitting my CB in the old LR but I did fit the antenna. I mounted in to the center rear of the bonnet. There was a hold in the checker and bonnet when I bought it so It was really a case of filling the hole but it worked well.
jk No the other left . . .

In my old 90, the first place i fitted the antena was on a support attached on the rear cross member ... the signal was terrible! Then I fitted it on the roofrack and it improved A lot! But broke lots of antenas!

But that solution you have is a good one, Thumbs Up and I don't need a 1,60m antena like I used to have! One like yours will do. I just have to fit it somewhre between the truck cab and the hood ... Regards

i have an ariel just like pom, only mines longer, and i've lost count of the amount of times i've been into a mulit story car park and its still fine, i did hit a bird with it on the motorway once and bent the top 6 inches at a 90 degree angle (guess i killed the bird) soon straightened out, well mostly, mounted mine on the gutter over the back window, its sort of in the centre of the vehical and i get great range, mostly out doing all others when out with groups, and thats with thunderpoles cheapest one, most important of all earth your ariel thats what gets it working best.

talking of long aerials i always fancied one of those mega long ones that you pull over the top and fasten the end to the bonnet a la ww2 jeep style.

How about a magnetic base mount aerial that you can stick to the roof bars if fitted (cable tied on rough terrain), this can be popped inside the vehicle when not in use?

Which roof console are you going for? Tell me it's this one from nakatanenga as I would like to get it for my landy just not to sure it will fit a puma roof lining without the need to cut it. Confused

I want to buy the Outback one, from nakatanenga ... I have a friend with a similar one, on a 130 Td5, and he did not have to cut the roof lining ... it's fixed with proper nuts and stuff that comes with the console.

But you have to cut the solar panels - don't know if this is the name ... I'm also looking for a new CBradio, Din size to fit in it, because my old cb ended his life. Regards

The Nakatenenga one looks more OEM in my view. Still, quite expensive for what's essentially a cb holder..

That's the reason I would go for it Mike, the fact that it looks like it came as standard. Cutting the sun visors isn't as bad as cutting the roof lining but just how clean a cut is achievable to the sun visors?
