Other half
Today I was thinking about how great my other half is….. not just as a wife, mother, friend and confidant but also in support of my hobbies – shooting and Land Rovers.

Mrs BM was a large influence in the purchase of my 110, she missed my 90 and our holidays in it and just trundling around the countryside. She also made sure it has a glove box, vanity mirror, decent ride (Koni), and various other additions.
But the one I did not see coming was her complete agreement for safety reasons to have it mapped by Alive. She has driven several vehicles I have had mapped before and she was adamant that it not only needed more umph but also could do with a smoother delivery of power and just drivability.

What can I say… it has been fettled by Alive.

Having a missus who supports you is the best! Mrs Greeni is not only an owner of a 90, but also has a very nice Beretta Ultralight Gold 12g shotgun Thumbs Up she can shoot too, only last week she was just 2 clays behind a regular 'high gun' at a shoot!!

There's not many who have such a missus. Welcome to the club Cool

Well in this family, of the last 6 Defenders purchased I have only seen one of them before Barbara actually arranged the purchase!

As for the white 90, that is Barbara's 'pretty one' so I have to be careful what I do with that one. With the grey 90 H?T she is telling me what to fit!

One of our Defenders has been remapped by Pete at BAS and one by Gary at Alive.

Consider yourselves blessed. My wife is not disinterested so much as down right contrary to essentially everything I have yet taken an interest in, except making money she can spend. You couldn't get your other halves to club together and enlighten mine as to the virtues of supporting a husband in all his endeavours? NO sorry that is a stupid idea as it would backfire and ruin your wives for you. Sorry. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Mine is cool and has just endorsed the purchase of 2 ATBs, despite not fully under standing what they do and knowing I don't really need them and just that I want them. Further she tends to buy Landy or other hobby based presents on special occasions. Also she works bloody hard for the NHS on a low salary and does loads of overtime to help us maintain a life style we want DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

It was Mrs H who suggested i put a deposit on the Heritage, in mid 2014. She has also been out shooting on the odd away trip to Devon and organises clay shoots at home. Lucky, very lucky Very Happy

Huttopia,

is that a Hebridean as your photo? If so, what is your connection with them?

Kind regards

Steve

Yes it is. We have bred them for the last few years but are in the process of stopping the sheep. The Ryelands go to the abattoir next week and teh remaining heb lambs will go in spring. There just aren't enough hours in the day Crying or Very sad

Its a small world!! I breed them too. Had at one point 376 about 7 years ago. Most of them went down south and we tried to keep to a more manageable 70, but now we're down to 48 as quite a few recently went to be cooked for the current Great British Menu. Ive tried my best to keep the Four Horn and Multi-Horn going, but like you I just haven't got the time any more and want to end up with about 10-15..

Thankfully, I met my wife 6 years ago and Im very lucky to have someone who shares my interests in Breeding the Hebrideans, Shooting(bl..dy rabbits are keeping me busy at the mo.), Defenders(although she silently curses when I spend too much time under it) and absolutely loves the Series 1's Thumbs Up

Well done, they are huge numbers! I'll miss the hebs, they are a really noble beast and relatively easy to keep (a bit lively to catch when the mood takes them) but full of character. Just too busy running kids around to hockey / rugby / cricket / athletics to enjoy it.

The future Mrs G (as of Aug next year) didn't, and probably still doesn't completely, understand my obsession with Land Rovers and the Defender in particular but she has been to test drive several with me and came to accept that they were great fun and we just had to have one.

She scoured the web to find our 90 to support my desire to own one and has been on many green laning adventures since. She's not a big fan of the amount of money it has needed and time under it but still supportive enough to help me find the D2 for my daily (which she again found). Truly blessed to have such a supportive partner Bow down

Now, back to work on getting sign off for a Series 1 as the wedding car!! Rolling with laughter

We spent our honeymoon in the roof tent on my the 17 year old S.IIa 109" station wagon. (1980)
She's been membership secretary of several Land Rover clubs over the years.
She had a Range Rover before me. (I couldn't afford it.)
She owned her own 101.
She helped me buy our Dakar.
Despite it all, we're still married. Rolling Eyes

Well you guys should think yourselves very lucky indeed!

I have a wife & three daughters that are neither interested nor supportive of my Defender "problem" (as they call it!)

In fact my middle daughter last week preferred to walk to school in the rain than be dropped nr the school in a cloud of V8 lovelyness & 80's petrol fumes Rolling with laughter
