Gents
Living in the south east, just inside the M25 near Heathrow can have a bad effect on your driving manners, alot of the time it's just too busy. It took me 2 hours to roll for 4 junctions the other day and it also took me 5 hours to make the 2 hour trip to peterbrough.... My mate from up north still does all the cute things, like stopping at roundabouts and T junctions and all the other stuff from the 1950's but sometimes the state of the traffic/conditions here has to be seen to be believed. I also think that there is a bit of the bulls of pamploma thing going on down here, where someone will clock you in your big 4x4 and just pull out on you just to show they've got the minerals, which in turn makes you drive your big 4x4 like a battering ram and so it goes on.... Oh woe, oh woe My crusty old landrover, It will not go. Last edited by Mother superior on 21st Sep 2016 11:54am. Edited 1 time in total |

I used to think that the French were bad drivers, until I drove in the UK for the first time in 12 years (Dover to North Lincs and back) My god that was scary, especially the M2/M25.

Pull out quick junkies...Happens all the time while I am driving. Not so sure it’s just a Land Rover issue though as I also get the same while driving other marks. I blame the driving instructors who give just a week quick intensive courses and then you take your test!
The other culprits in my opinion are those who have learnt to drive on foreign roads then come to work or live in the UK and still drive as if they are in their own country of origin, which on the whole is terrible as anyone who has driven abroad and seen the standard of driving will know. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

The difference over here of course is more often than not, you have the road to yourself

There is a secret SLOW VEHICLE sign on the front of a defender that non of us owners can see.
I once stopped about 3" from a car that shot onto a roundabout in Carmarthen and then panicked and hit the brakes !!!! I was doing about 40mph and every single lose item in the defender ended up in the front foot wells, the lady driving probably took a few weeks to compose herself, she burst into historical tears having the words Defender only a few inches from her head seemed to shake her up a bit. She did thank me for braking so hard, I am glad I did not have any load on board. Hoole Road in Chester is possibly the worst for arrogant pushing in to moving traffic!! I've forced the odd arrogant german car or van to reverse back out of my way when I am on my own in the 130. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

It's not just you.
Although one thing I will admit to is deliberating boxing in drivers that undertake and weave in and out of traffic on dual carriageways. If I'm overtaking lorries and have vehicles in front of me then I'll tend to leave a reasonable gap so that I've got plenty of space if anything happens and I can keep at a steady speed (because it's more relaxing if nothing else). When I see someone in my mirrors weaving in and out of traffic I'll wait until they're on my inside and trying to get in front of me then floor it and keep alongside them so they get stuck. It amuses me greatly. Merc 4x4s seem to have been the worst culprits recently. |

I thought it was dangerous to do what they do anyway...
If you did that on a driving test it'd be a fail I'd have thought. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___ ___\âï¸Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ Last edited by custom90 on 21st Sep 2016 9:22pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I'm guilty of this too ![]() It's quite pleasing after using smarter decisions and traffic foresight to 'beat' them to wherever we part ways, but having not broken any laws doing so. Challenging, but doable. Quite often find myself playing this game with the newer Japanese double cab utility types (Ranger etc.). Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

I'd have thought so too.
I failed my first driving test pulling out in front of someone on a roundabout that was indicating to go off at the previous exit. I'd just assumed that that meant they were going off and hadn't even thought that they might just carry on round with the indicator going. |

I failed my first test because the examiner was a fat git and his vast gut covered my gear stick!!. OK I was driving my Austin A30 which was quite narrow, but it was his lardy fault

Cupboard - Problem there is, it's a fine balance as you could be waiting there all day.
I reckon roundabouts are the most dangerous of any where on the road. I find I get amazing how many at double mini roundabouts round here don't see to understand you give way to the right on both roundabouts. And how easily they seem to get confused. When I learnt to drive I was warned about roundabouts more than anywhere. And indicating or not, other drivers will go anywhere so you should never presume where possible. In the real world putting that into practice is not always possible. _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___ ___\âï¸Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°*\\_ |

Mum and dad live on a main road but on a cul de sac that gives access to the rest of the estate. About 30 meters beyond the cul de sac on the main road is a mini roundabout. In a morning the traffic easily reaches one from the other and is often stationary for minutes at a time. The amount of drivers who can't work out that they are blocking the side road and preventing others from crossing their line of travel to go away from the bottle neck is staggering. That and the abuse received from pointing out that it wouldn't have cost them anything to be less ignorant. Unfortunately I am not possessed of a troll hunter spec defender so can't make my point in terms these numb bats would appreciate. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.
