Security

Being completely new to my 90, can anyone suggest best form of security. cant afford much so was thinking about fuel cut-off switch hidden in the cab? how much should I pay? best place to hide it? mines a 1989 90 soft top with a 300 tdi from a discovery 1.
Also Speedo and windscreen wipers packed up, are these likely to be expensive, fuses okay.????

Can anyone recommend best but cheap mechanic nearest to Cheshunt, Herts?
