Headlight motor buzzing
Hi all,

Any tips for a headlight where the motor is buzzing regardless of the level setting on the switch? It's louder on the highest setting but still noticeable on the others.

It's happening today for the first time, it is probably no coincidence that I changed the setting for the first time last night! This may be the first time they were ever used so perhaps they are just stiff/stuck??

And check that the headlights haven't been screw down so tight they can't move when the motor is trying to adjust them.

so my headlights have decided to stop levelling , neither moves, this has happened before but fixed itself before I could investigate.

Symptom's are headlights don't move when switch is operated

Checked the wiring diagram and it suggest feed is from fuse 20 and this also feeds instrument lights which are fine

therefore I am suspecting the swich, an earth or dodgy plug/wiring

any recommendations where to start? DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Always begin with the Earths, then power to the switch, then the wiring loom and finally 12v to the motors to check those.

It is a simple circuit, but I can see there are a pair of connectors that might be faulty. These will be in the wing extension looms.

The rotary switch does play up, take it out, pop the back off and the contacts can be cleaned and re-lubricated.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I stripped my switch apart. Re-soldered all the connections. From memory there was a back plate that wasn't connecting properly to the power pins - removed old solder, cleaned, re-soldered. All good.
I also removed the dull green led and added wo new white let's. Much better. 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.
