Simplest way to fit an awning to a 110 SW

Hi all,

I'll hopefully be using my 110, from next season, to tow the race car to circuits. Theefore, it would save on space inside, if I could fit a folding awning to the outside of the vehicle, to save me carrying my standalone one.

I've seen some, like this:

Which attach to a roof rack, but since I don't have any need for a roof rack (at the moment), i was wondering if there are any that attach to roof bars? Ideally, I don't want to have to drill into the bodywork either!

The Foxwing is a great bit of kit.

Barbara was taken with it when she first saw photos of it, I had my reservations but am now converted.

Right the foxwing was designed to fit on the Australian Rhino-Rack bars by fitting onto two rhino rack bars. Personally I prefer three. It can be fitted onto Patriot racks. Ours is fitted through 4 of the Patriot luggage rail up rights and is rock solid. With a bit of fabrication it can be fitted to most racks.

Since they were first introduced they now make heavy duty brackets for the Australian Rhino Rack bars. Also for other types of racks.

The downside is do not be lazy deploying it in still conditions. Peg the guy lines down asap. Otherwise out of nowhere will come a gentle gust of wind and you have a 10 metre2 kite on your hand and some broken hinges. Guess how I know?

Properly guyed down it will handle 55 mph winds, i.e. Manby August 2010

An Oztent can be connected to it as well. If I was travelling solo and there were no mozzies around and calm winds I would be happy to sleep under it.

You could guess I am a convert now!

Postman has just been.and delivered the Autumn edition of Rover Land, magazine of the SLRK.

Inside is a photo of Barbara, Todd and myself relaxing under the foxwing. Todd is a Canadian friend who lives in Sweden.

Front page is a photo of a vicar being a winch bitch pulling a winch cable out. Would your vicar be a winch bitch?
