Checker plate for wings
Can anyone help me on this?

There are two Land Rover part numbers for the silver wing top checker plate:
LR005230 - 07MY Onwards and
STC7667 - RHD vehicles with aerial (pre-07MY only)

Now from what I can see the key difference between these is that the 07MY onwards is shorter and doesn't sit around the aerial hole like the earlier model's one does. Other than that is there any difference? Screw pattern, distance to bonnet edge... anything at all?

My reason for asking is there is one key difference in Australia - the 07MY checker plate is about AU$200 (about £85) or 1.6x more than the other to buy Shocked 110 2.4TDCi

I have the full length black ones fitted to my Puma, with the aerial hole

So working on your logic, I must be the early ones, and they fit fine

From memory,, Gen LR ones were around the £160 mark over here Shocked but are far better quality than the aftermarket kits that are about California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Got the checker plate today and guess what, the pre-07 is a little hard to fit.

The Puma bonnet is over an 1" wider at each corner against the firewall, it looks like this end of the plate won't fit without sitting under the bonnet when it is closed. I don't think the gap under the bonnet is sufficient for this (who ever though someone would complain Defender's didn't have big enough panel gaps Rolling Eyes ). This also looks to be the issue at the front.

Oh well, given I have a Tdi and Puma parked side by side every day I should have picked this up myself and I didn't. Worst case I'll have to buy the one for the Puma and I'll use the other on the Tdi. 110 2.4TDCi

Me too, I fitted the pre 2007s and they are ok. I put some tape on th underside of the bonnet rim as it did make slight contact in a few places. The only problem I had was on the destuctions said drill 9.5mm holes, worong drill 9mm or even 8.5mm or like me you will have to bodge the fittings.
