Knocking when turning right and accelerating
Hi, my 130 Td5 has developed quite a loud knocking sound but only when turning right and accelerating. I don't need to be on full lock, anything right of "steering dead ahead" will generate the noise. Let go of the accelerator and the noise is gone. Straighten out and the noise is gone as well. It's not the tyres rubbing (they don't rub at all) , and I have also had the CV joints checked, but my LR specialist is very sure CV joints are fine. So what else could it be? I found the rubber seal of the right track rod end has cracked and I will replace it, but surely that isn't the cause of the knocking? Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000

CV joints be my bet or half shaft splines or front diff bevelled gears

Thanks for the suggestions. Any tests I can do to pinpoint the cause of the problem before dissassembling stuff? My LR specialist (with a good reputation) was quite certain the CV's are OK after looking at/fiddling with the car on his ramp. How do I tell a bad halfshaft from a good one without unscrewing stuff? Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000
