Yesterday I finally maned up and went to the doctors to have a lump on my bits examined. I am lucky as it is only a sebaceous cyst and nothing to worry about. This may not be the case for everyone. Don't be a fool don't ignore anything lumpy, do the sensible thing and get proper medical advice. I know it's not something that everyone is happy to talk about but please please look out for your health. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

After a scare a few years ago I am now on active watch and have regular checkups.
If in doubt get a check up. We have a wonderful health service - use it. You have paid for it. |

A good thread
![]() It would be nice to think it might just prompt somebody into taking action before it's too late. |

I went to the GP a few years ago with a similar issue as Lambert. Yes all sorts of things go through your mind including cancer etc. Does feel rather odd having your bits examined by a female GP.
So yes if you have any strange lumps or bumps appearing on your body go and see your GP. Yes it can feel embarrassing at times going to the GPs, however if it is a genuine concern they will attend to you with consideration and respect. Brendan |

The way I am looking at it is this; is it better to be embarrassed for a few minutes or to be dead, killed by your own nuts? I know which one I would prefer. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Get it checked.....If it feels wrong, if it looks wrong, if its changed colour shape or density get it checked A.S.A.P

True, it can be difficult and embarrassing but trust me I've seen patients newly diagnosed with Cancer who put off going to the Doctor and are now palliative care

I had a scare a few years back after moving some really heavy logs.
Something felt very wrong and after a day of limping around went to the doctors. After a quick inspection he wrote out a letter and said to take it straight to A+E, within 2 hours I was flat on the operating table having surgery for a Testicular Torsion ![]() Had them both taken out, untangled and then stitched back on the inside and sewn up again. Fast forward a few years and a lump started appearing. Fearing the worst I got it looked at and they said it was just a cyst. Never hurts to check ![]() Self confessed mileage hunter ![]() |

After ignoring my 3rd danglie for 2 or 3 years I finally got it checked in 1999, as with Lambert it is a cyst which they didn't want to remove till now, I'm on the waiting list for the removal op.
What really did annoy me however was I was sent to the VD clinic for the ultrasound check! The stenographer was female and to be honest I'd far rather have a woman check me out than a man but there again things 'happened' when I was at boarding school. Throughout the examination other nurses kept coming through for a look, now that was far more embarrassing, 1 was fine but 4 or 5 came in for a look! |

i agree it is a bit demeaning being viewed as a symptom not a person, when i was 18 i developed shingles in my inner ear with associated bells palsy and whilst in hospital the senior teaching staff were trailing all the med students round me on the basis that they would like as never see anyone else in their career with what i had. the only saving grace for me was being on morphine strength pain meds and consequently utterly space caddetted. in hind sight yes they had ones best interests at heart but at the time it is a little difficult.
