TD5 ticking noise
My 2002 TD5 has during the last few days developed a ticking noise coming from the engine bay during acceleration.

If decelerating then ticking does not happen only under acceleration. Everything else appears fine. No loss of power, no smoke, just this annoying ticking sound.

Any ideas from the forum experts appreciated.

A few more general questions. I have a nanocom tester. What should the max values be for:

1 Turbo pressure.
2 ambient air pressure
3 Wastegate

Thanks in advance. 2002 110 TD5 White

Ticking noise under acceleration could be coming from an exhaust manifold leak.

Don't know about the NC values.

Thanks Clive.

Leak in the exhaust compression pipe as it enters the manifold. 2002 110 TD5 White

Any idea where that pipe is I have a ticking noise which goes away after 4-5 miles wondered if it was also a small leak

Cobra Mark,

You can see it here in the pic below. It's the compression joint that's in the exhaust just below the manifold joint.

Thanks will check it out, having the tensioner and pulley bearing changed anyway due to age, may look at the viscous fan as a warm engine makes no noticeable noise.
