Hi IanW, I bought the Clark Log Buster 5 a couple of years ago and although I have hardly used it it does seem well built. The only thing I would say if what you are splitting has dried out this splitter tries then spits them across the floor so beware.
Freshly cut logs are fine. https://www.machinemart.co.uk/categories/?search=log+splitter |

Thanks MC84. What sort of thickness are you splitting? One wife - livid

Bought a number of machines from Rock. He really knows his stuff and incredibly helpful.

I also have a Clark Log Buster 5. Works best with freshly cut wood for sure. Thickness depends on how knotty the wood is and how hard.....

Full length the machine would allow and about 5" diameter |

Do you have any small scale woods near you?
My dad hires a tractor and log splitter for something like £90/day from their local wood and the throughput is vastly more than you'd get from a toy one. That's splitting from 10" to 20" logs and it's two men and a log splitter all day to create a winter's worth of firewood for them. |

Thanks for the responses. The Rock items look to be of professional quality and thus expensive for domestic use, although doubtless good. We have a contractor to chain Harrow and roll the paddock, and cut the hedges so I'll ask if he has a splitter. Ian One wife - livid
