Indicator stalk assembly
Today, I took the time at long last to take off the steering cowl / shroud to have a go at fixing my loose indicator and washer stalk issue as all of the whole thing slight moves around when using.
(It's been like it a while)

Anyway, on further investigation I found there is a plastic wrap around clamp that has a screw on it that clamps it up around the steering column.
It's snapped around the screw and is just held in place and is not actually tightened.

For now I've tightened up what is left and I'll have to try and get a new assembly sometime.

I can't see how it could be fixed either - not sure it's the best design!

What would have been wrong with a metal clamp or worm drive /hose clip type fixing. Rolling Eyes

Does anyone know the OE manufacturer? Is it Lucas?

No doubt LR is £150 or more for the whole thing. Rolling Eyes

Lucas only really exists as a brand name these days, but you can buy OEM switches etc. from 'them' yes - I have one on my car with no issues, in my case the wiper switch.

My indicator switch mounting band thing is broken too, in fact every Land Rover I have had has been the same. However the plastic cowl holds everything firmly in place anyway so it's never caused me a problem.

There should be two normal screws holding the plastic cowl to the metal plate that the switches are in, and then another single set screw holding the cowl to the steering lock. As such none of it should move.

Unless they have changed the design of course.

It should be better now, since I've checked it all and tightened up.

And yes, you are correct, there is the plate the cowl screws onto with two screws amongst others holding the cowl sections together..
I'll see how it goes but the combination of the three inc the band should work together.

I would have thought it might be due to over tightening, but I haven't touched it since the factory.
Or maybe it's just stress over time.
