This isn't a LR by the way but a good story to read and view the video. I haven't read it fully myself yet.

I would also confirm why the car was taken for a test drive and if no justifiable reason seek legal advice as taking without permission!

Had a client who dropped his M3 into a dealer for its first service, around 45 minutes later his tracker alerted him tintype fact his car was hurtling along the motorway at speeds in excess of 120mph

My brother had an E30 318is a few years ago- it used to go to a local bmw specialist to be serviced and have a most work done. They didn't have a wheel alignment system on site so they used to send them to a small garage round the corner for alignment to be checked and set up.
One of the mechanics took it for a test drive and wrapped it around a lamp post. Sadly he walked away with only minor injuries. All too common I'm afraid, I have worked for a couple of garages and have heard of similar 'test drives' occurring. Chris |

Think you will find most places when you hand the vehicle over you are agreeing to them 'test driving' the vehicle and or when you sign it over. However eccess speed is out of order. I would be tempted to get a sticker saying your on camera and tracker fitted and leave note on the dash even if you haven't. |

There was a McLaren F1 back in the day that was pranged by a mechanic on a test drive.
Some cars have valet mode now so you could limit functionality. Also, there's the ecu transit mode used by jlr, do any of the plug in kits allow you to activate this? Obviously a main dealer may also be able to deactivate this if it's not password protected. |

Why do people think THEIR car are treated any different,I remember my boss wheel spinning a V8 Range Rover very enthusiastically in the eighties.I also did a Porsche/Mustang/RS when the boss wasn't looking,I was 16 at the time.Happy days when you work in a garage.Don't wanna say what we did to Escort 1600 sports,or Fiesta super sports.Wouldn't trust a garage as far as I could throw them..
