You will see variance in voltage as load changes, this is normal. I wouldn't be surprised if the puma engines have one of the smarter alternator systems where the ECU will regulate the output of the alternator depending on the load.

You'll also see a slightly false voltage at the cigarette lighter. The more load on the wiring loom there is, the greater the voltage drop at a given point.

I have a pair of batteries and a voltmeter. It is wired pretty much direct to the aux battery, and the main battery feed is taken from the back of the radio.

When warm and running I see around 13.9 on the main and 14.1 on the aux. Both are charged fine. The aux is an AGM type

So I guess that means that I should get a dedicated voltmeter routed to the battery then. Anyone know someone who sells voltmeters in green LED rather than blue or red? Or maybe a needle gauge to match the panel gauges?

Just have a search on eBay for green led voltmeter, plenty there! I have a few of the cheapy panel ones and not had any issues with accuracy.

If you'd prefer a guage then vdo gauges look pretty close to stock, you'll obviously need to figure out somewhere to mount one!
