Anyone failed an MOT after catching/marking their seatbelts in the door catch?

Seems a common issue to catch your driver's seat belt on the door catch, attempt to close the door on it and then find it's marked?

There is a recent thread which might be of interest? http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic34419.html?

A few years ago I got both sides of mine changed under warranty, nothing to do with the MOT, car was 2 years old and dealer agreed it was a land rover fault.
Our newer Defenders dot seem to suffer this issue any more, perhaps the return springs are stronger thus stopping the belt from going loose. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Yes I do think the speed the belts retract into the reel has a lot to do with it.
When I replaced mine I did notice the difference.
Given their primary function, the relative low cost, and the ease of fitting, I'd say it's certainly worth the investment.

I notice there are a couple of reel fixing options so that may also influence things.

And of course the X-Eng door striker plate may help minimise damage (a little?).

Some helpful hints and tips above - thanks Thumbs Up

I had an advisory about ten years ago for the seat belts, but have not had one since, I have not changed them, just some test centres are more pedantic than others. 80" 1948

I had to change the driver side after getting an advisory three years running, I didn't want to push my luck on a 4 year. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.
