Wiring the SVX 7" Headlamp
So I would like to fit my 7" Wipac Headlamp but I have a question.

As you can see in the picture below they have a smaller light bulb inside that should go on when the sidelight goes on too.

How should I wire them?
If I "steal" the power from the wire of the sidelight do I have to change the fuse in the fusebox?

The back of them it's like this:

So I was thinking to use one of these to take the power from the sidelight

Should I change the fuse or it's not necessary?

I'll just get some popcorn ready for the tirade that is sure to come for that picture of a scotchlok! I have done exactly what you're proposing and I popped led's in the headlamp bowl. Yes you can piggyback off the seperate sidelights, I spliced and soldered then covered with self amalging tape. I'm really pleased with the result, a lot like having dim-dip but without the hassle of seperate relays/controllers. The led 501 type bulbs in mine are the cree type as sold by one of the forum sponsors AF advanced factors and are quite impressive.
There's a couple of poor pictures below that doesn't really do them justice

So you did replace the light bulb I have with a LED one?
Could you post the link?

Do you have pictures of the connections job?

Off the top of my head these are the type I fitted http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/glo116-t1...8002-p.asp

As for pictures of my wiring connections, I don't take pictures of anything like that, I much prefer to do the job and tuck it away out of sight, much easier on the eye Thumbs Up

Unfortunately, this is one application where leds aren't very sucessful. Whatever leds you use, they won't last very long if you use your headlights much, as the heat developed by the dipped/main beam will kill them. Big Cry

Well apart from the question of an invalid E mark and the reflector is not designed for an LED cluster.

Pete also raises a valid point about heat dispersion. The branded LED headlights I have seen are all quite 'weighty' at about 1-2 kg a headlight with the back being made of alloy with ribs on, painted black. Cooling fins inbuilt into the headlight?

So I will probably stay with the bulb it has at this point.

Should I change any fuse because of the extra drain or I'm good like that?
