Bruce one significant difference (in the UK) is that there's been some reclassification of the vehicle type (don't know the exact details - i'm sure someone else does), but it does mean the annual road fund licence for the '11MY is roughly half that of the '10MY.
We kept our previous TD5 for 7 years, so for us, this was a factor in waiting for a new '11MY rather than getting a nearly new '10MY. |

Bruce what spec are you looking at?

this reclassification - can it be backdated or is it a total waste of time trying?

It's a clear cut. 2011MY on = new tax £250 pre 2011MY = old tax £450 no if's no but's and no exeptions! Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

It would take a long time to recoup that tax difference if you bought a new one rather than keeping an older model!
The RFL is painful though - not enough to put us off. Still think it's funny that our nr 300bhp, 428lbs-ft BM is half the cost in RFL a year!! Not sure about LR but quite a few brands have done some rather savage cost cutting recently - a MY011 3 Series for example has cheaper materials, a worse stereo and other bits than a MY010, which is worse than a MY009. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

i think the list you have is it pretty much although i didnt know about the reflectors or the carpet bit. the 11MY ones i have seen had carpet and same reflectors. they did have the correct silver badge though.
RLF reclassification is not retrospective. you wont be able to get a vehicle reclassified easily. Cheers James 110 2010 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

My MY11 Utility Wagon was £200 road tax, I think LR wants to reclassify all defender models so they don't have to replace the defender in 2012, with the new regs for cars.
