Alternative oil
Hello all,

Following on from a previous email re engine oil change, a little more advice please. I'm unable to find any recommended Castrol flavoured oil. Being France, Total and Mobil is in ubandance and being a big firm, there's a fair amount of Shell representation too. I'm considering the following, as on the label it says it is homologated to Ford. Given I have a 2.2 Puma, will this be suitable? Advice from those more knowledgable than I, welcomed as always. Thumbs Up

Not Ideal on a Cat equipped vehicle.
That is ACEA A5/B5 ... You want one that is ACEA C1 .... or C3 [Even better] Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Thanks Dave. So damned confusing. Shall look for the version you recommend. Beyond that, is there any actual difference between Mobil, Total, Shell, Elf, Castrol etc and their variants of 5W 30 100% Synth? Monsieur Le Grenadier

It's the DPF (not cat) which requires a different spec oil. The oil pictured is NOT correct for a European 2.2 Puma.

You need to find one meeting Ford WSS-M2C-934-B as per http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic34176.html

"C1" spec oils appear to meet the correct Ford spec, so see if there is a Total C1  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Correct info from Martin, just realised reading it I put Cat instead of DPF (that's the trouble with being in the trade, both cause daily headaches lol)
Any named brand synthetic will be more or less identical to any other, most of the advertising ' claims' are there to hook the buyer Rolling Eyes Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

That's good for a 2.4 Puma, the 2.2s use a different spec.

Is that from a filling station? If so, you're lucky you can buy them there like that, not so in these parts...
