![]() "Fears people may have been trapped inside a Land Rover stranded in the sea at Redcar prompted a lifeboat alert. Redcar RNLI volunteers were tasked at lunchtime today when a car was seen on the beach getting swamped by water. The alarm was raised at 12.40pm by a member of the public when they saw a Land Rover Freelander on the beach near the Granville Terrace slipway at Redcar. Water was reaching the top of the wheels and the car’s horn was sounding, raising concerns that people were stranded inside. The car had been used by four men to launch a small speed boat from the beach. However the lifeboat launch was cancelled after one of the RNLI team went to the location and was able to confirm that nobody was trapped. A Redcar fisherman used a tractor to pull the vehicle clear of the sea. He then assisted the men to recover their craft onto a trailer and pull it to safety." http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside...r-10987452 |

Looking on their website and Facebook page doesn't give any more information.
Looks like they people with the boat didn't realise how far the tide was going to come in. Plonkers. But hey, mistakes happen and no one was hurt. |
