cable advice-uprated alternator
So I'm replacing my old dying 65A alternator on my 300Tdi with an 100A version. I know you have to upgrade the cable from the alternator to the starter as its only rated at 65A. Im going to leave the old wiring in place and just add a 110A cable.
Question is do i have to add the cable immediately ?
I really need the car for this weekend but won't have the cable till next week. Can i safely use the car with the standard 65A cable for a few days?
I haven't added any extras yet that require a 100A alternator (just future proofing). Im not sure if the alternator sends 100A to batt constantly or only when asked for it such as big demand from extra toys? My 109 thread

The alternator has the capability of providing 100 amp output. It will only deliver what the vehicle electrical systems demand on it. You can leave the wiring as long as it is in good condition until such time as you carry out your next 'high load' modification quite happily. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
