Hi all
thought id start a new topic up. I bought a 1996 ex farm 90 300tdi for £1000 14 months ago and since then its been slowly rebuilt by my local LR specialist in Merthyr Tydfil It was looking very sorry for itself and was about to be broken for parts but I thought Id save it and build something interesting! Following pics show it as it was bought! very beaten up with a smokey engine. Well thats what I got told when I wanted to get our three new vans painted Bali Blue.

It required a new engine as original was beyond repair!

These pics are as it stands now
New rear X member fitted, chassis cleaned up, rust cut out and welded, then dinitrolled extensively. Its now riding on brand new OME +5.5" suspension with gwyn lewis challenge suspension and arms. With a nice set of Mach 5's which will have 285 75 16 BFG KM2 Mud tyres fitted. New doors and wing skins being put on and being prepped for a full in and out respray. Small update this week!
Drivers side top bulkhead corner had a very poor repair by the farmer which you can see in the pictures above when it had the original green door on, seems he ripped the hinge out then tied it t back on by putting a strip of metal over the hinge while still unsecured to the bulkhead! My mechanic has done a fantastic job of repairing it all and putting the original holes back in where it should be on the new metal. looks factory finish! Wing outer skins have been refitted and it is now going into the primer stage so its coming along nicely. Im hoping in a couple weeks it'll be resplendent in its bali blue paint work then I fit the cage and hood then make the dash look new and also tidy the wiring up. It's the perFormance and protection NAS replica cage that's mentioned on their site, really pleased with it as its a proper cage and ties back to the chassis rather than just bolting to the body.
As regards the hood, don't know much apart from its mohair... I had assumed it was exmoor as both the front and the lock and fold rear seats where all from them but couldn't say to be honest, bought the truck finished for a fraction of what it cost to build and have been chuffed to bits since  2003 Zambezi Silver TD5 110 XS SW overland prepped....

BFG KM2's have been fitted to the mach 5's and its all in primer ready for its paint in Bali Blue which is tomorrow so hopefully another update in a couple days!
