10AS removal - will it trip the alarm? (or other un-fun?)
Gidday, I want to have a look at the PCB and wiring in the 10AS unit as I have an interior lighting fault (all door switches checked and the wiring for the most part discussed in other threads so I'm not looking for guidance there).

In a past life I did PCB/electronics manufacture so I know sometimes the smallest of bumps can cause an intermittent fault like this around a pin/joint.

Question: what will happen security/alarm wise if I disconnect it and pull it out?

Do I need ear muffs and should I alert the neighbours? Shocked

You'll be ok, I've taken mine out without issue (upgrade to fit aftermarket central locking). You might need to reprogram fobs after though...

Getting to it is fun...

Doesn't reprogramming the fobs mean a trip to a dealer or likewise?

Oh hang on, I recall something about them going out of sync, is that what you refer to?

If so, how is resyncing done?

I did have my battery unplugged for 3 weeks once and the fob still worked - I have to install an inverter one day soon, might unplug and do it all then... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Its fine to just unplug it. Fobs will need re syncing after though which just involves pressing one of the buttons (5?) times until it works again

Thanks for chiming in - the more reports of happy unplugging the better.

Regarding the resync - interesting I didn't have to do it after 3weeks with no battery though. I guess if both systems (there are two?) go off together, it's ok ??

Meanwhile, I need to 3D print myself a stubby handle for the torx bit - I don't think a 1/8" drive extension/UJ is going to help at all - the access via the speaker is shiiiiite (!) Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Well aren't you lucky even having a speaker hole to access. I don't. Dash out!

Battery doesn't normally cause unsync (if that's a word). You can do it by pressing the buttons on fob in sequence of using a nanocom. Lock 4 times unlock 1

Not sure I follow your post there: 'in sequence of using a nanocom' ?

I googled around a bit to see if I could find more mention of Lock 4 times Unlock 1. But didn't find any (yet).

The nanocom instructions* say:

>Plip easy synch: This is the number of presses of the plip to allow an easy resynchronization.
>Plip for resync: During a resynchronization of the plips, the plip has to be pressed this number of times.

But not which button to press and what is factory standard... What is an 'easy' resync ?

I don't own a nanocom.

Sorry, autocorrect. You can do it pressing the fob buttons in sequence (4 presses of lock and 1 of unlock button) OR by using a nanocom (another device that you buy and plug in to diagnostics port)

Won't you have to turn the immobiliser off first? I wouldn't have thought the ECU would let you start the engine without the 10AS in would it?

I'd only be pulling it out to check internal continuity - not permanently Wink Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...
