2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Epsom Green

110 CSW back seats removal

I'm looking to remove the 2 folding rear seats in my 110. I've read people using rivnuts to plug the holes. Is there any reason why I can't just use the bolts from the seats. That way I can re-fit them in future if I ever need them again? Or would the bolt get in the way, as I plan to fit mantec stowage cages.

As long as water does not get in.

You can just use the bolts, with no problem. Although the you will need 2 substitutes, 1 for each side as there is a stud that is part of the seat that will come out.

I did this a month or so again on my 90 CSW, it's an easy enough job.

Yes you can replace all the fixing nuts back in the holes they came from, I coated mine in copper grease too, so that when I/ the next owner need to put the seats back, they are not stuck, plus it adds some waterproofing.

As said, there are two holes you will need to bung up, I just used 2 bolts with washers, again, covered in copper grease and then all over the ends of the threads in the wheelarch to protect them. 2016 D4 HSE

I used M8 bolts (can be the shortest you can find) - I used dome/screwed headed bolts for a flatter profile. The hole is quit large so I used oversized washers also.

Did mine yesterday used oversized steel washers and a rubber washer same size to make a good seal.
Easy on the torque when you make the bolt up all you will squeeze the rubber washer out.
