Curtains in the back of a 110 anyone made some
Hello

My Defender has not yet got dark windows and for camping trip / storing our kit everything is generally on show. I tend to pack neatly and cover everything with a black blanket. I was thinking though...

Has any one made curtains for the sides ? back? I even thought about the pull down blinds.

Thanks

Not exactly curtains or blinds have a look at the screens HERE
A possible alternative??

I have two versions: at first I made inserts for the rear windows from thin ply covered with black self adhesive plastic foil - and a Land Rover sticker Very Happy
Later I also added inserts for the windows on second row (not on the picture).
These are used on holidays carrying a lot of luggage or when sleeping in the back (I have a raised platform with storage drawers).

The second version are rolling blinds, black mesh screen, bought of Halfords, they had just the right measurements. They are used in the daily set up and are just fine for preventing having a good look in the car - you can look in, but you have to look from a very small distance so then you are really nosy Wink Bonus: from the driving position you can still look out if the window.

We have gone for the KISS principal and run a simple curtain lines past all the windows and hung curtains on them for sleeping in. its held in by trim hedgehog pins.

We have very dark tinted windows that are great in the day time but are not so good at night with the lights on !!

Great ^

Have you any more pictures of your set up.

Also for the Halfords blinds are they just the roll up type? that's another option I was thinking but the back door / side windows could be awkward?

Thanks both

Can't find them on Halfords anymore, but they were like these on Ebay, thouhg I don't kow the exact measurements anymore, you have to check. Installing was without trouble, I have these only on the most rear side windows. Still looking for some solution for the backdoor but that is more difficult because of the 3th brakelight.
Can take a picture later when it is light outside. Wink

Edit: as promised, may be not good quality picture but I hope you get the impresion. The mesh looks very light here, but in reality is is quite difficult to look from outside in.

We have ran a curtain line across the rear above the door line and have black curtains fitted, its easy to draw it when needed. & long enough to drop to the back floor so keeps the inside private when the door is open.
Cheep and cheerful and very durable - we have had these on the wagon for over 7 yrs now ! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

Jasong4110 or something like that made some thermal blankets that covered the windows and he sewn magnet's inside to allow them to stick to the door and window frame. Very good idea and easily take on and off able
