Range rover special edition processes- Help please LR

Hi, I;m looking at buying a special edition P38 Range Rover, the 30th anniv edition. The details I have from the vehicle indicate that:

Build date: May 1998
Warranty Activation (sale date?): Aug 1998
Date of first Registration: 1 Oct 2000

Would any of this make sense. the 30th Anniversary was released in 2000 and most 30th Anniv models are W X or Y plate, which makes sense. This vehicle is a S plate, indicating a 1998 registration.

Can you shed some light?

I've contacted LR head office who were no help, citing Data Protection. So Data Protection could be masking identity theft. I have a reg number and chassis number, but I'm not allowed the vehicle build data... Not quite sure who this is protecting, as I dont need the vehicle keeper details!

WOuld it make sense for accounting purposes that LR "buy" the vehicle from themselves, or maybe take existing built but unregistered stock and send them to SV for the modifications? I think this vehicle is also described as being built with ash grey leather, not the wimbledon green it currently has.

Hi Mike,

The date between the build date and warranty start date would fall within normal expectations. I would however be unable to comment or account for the timescale until the vehicle was registered.
