Shop around! Get yourself a list of dealers and phone each asking the best deal they can offer.
Beware that "Blindo" although a model name for a specific wheel, is now generically pplied to two different wheel models, the AR Casting model which is the original Blindo wheel, and the EVO Corse Dakar (Terrafirma Dakar) wheel, which is similar. The Dakar wheel has a few less spokes and doesnt have prsssed in steel rings in the bolt holes. The AR Casting one is better. The MOD contract initially ordered the AR Casting ones, but has since begun procuring both versions. Maybe look at buying second hand or new take off military nes and having them blasted and coated to your colour. As for tyres, shop around too. people will offer a discount on five tyres.. 265 is the widest I think, without having to fit spacers etc. 285 (in my opinion) look better, with a 30mm spacer and the steering ock stops adjusted appropriately. id buy both together. more chance you will get a decent price; and if 1 company supplies both then you dont have arguments if its not perfect upon delivery!
silverline are the people you want for blindos as they are the UK distributor. I purchased a set of blindos inc tyres from them a couple of months ago. no probs. as for size, then you could go for any of the below really. The blindos are a 7" rim. 235/85/16 - Std size, decent height if your off roading. 265/75/16 - Wider than 235 but no taller. Fill the arches nicely, no issues even with heavy off road against arches etc. v.popular size. 255/85/16 - taller than either of above so better for off road. Fills the arches but still no need for lift unless heavy off roading. 285/75/16 - widest of these but no taller than 255 so off roading isnt any better. Wide tyres which fills arches and likely to stick out a little bit (on blindos anyhow). Will reduce lock slightly given width. 285's are also not supposed to be fitted on 7" rim but many do without issue. My money would be on 255 (all the benefits but none of the drawbacks) 
Failing that and especially if off road isnt a consideration then 265's. |

There IS a physical difference between Genuine SILVERLINE (ITALIAN MADE) BLINDO alloy wheels and Terrafirma/EVO DAKAR alloys.The wheels also vary,ever so slightly in wheel "load". Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Thanks for the help so far.
Are Silverline Blindos the same as the Blindos supplied by other dealers? Are they all just AR castings Blindos if using that name - surely it is trade marked? I appreciate Terrafirma Dakars are not Blindos and look different, weight limits not the same etc. |

Silverline are the sole UK dealer for the AR Casting Blindo wheel... Think of AR Casting as the brand name and Blindo as the model. The downside is that they can set the price at whatever they like. AR wont sell to private individuals, unless you order about 100 wheels!
There was a man in Barry, South wales, selling the Dakar wheel, brand new, ex MOD stock in olive green for around £70 a wheel. I cant find his details at the moment though.. |

So what about the other Blindo dealers advertising Maxxtrac Blindos - are they not genuine Italian Blindos - the prices are pretty similar? Cheers |

Devon 4x4 sell Blindo's and provide a good service and answered all my daft questions with a happy smile.
I found my local PTA tyre provider to be cheaper than the online places as their price included fitting and balancing (even though they had to discount the balancing because they couldn't get them on their balancing machine). It's worth asking your local chaps. |

Yes, Britpart (one a few suppliers) sell genuine Blindo's but a a much higher price,I researched them and Silverline are the cheapest.I emailed the Italian manufacturer's hoping to get a better price but they (fairly) bounced me back to the uk importers.....Silverline. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |

I bought my rims from one dealer and tyres from another and saved quite a few quid - all down to the deal on the day but soon my smile turned to a frown.
I had also made a strategic error - some tyre dealers cannot balance Defender wheels on their machines - so my cheap tyre dealer couldn't balance the tyres on the rims and I had to visit yet another dealer to get them correctly balanced. I have now learned a lesson ........... you need a tyre dealer who specialises in Ford Transit vans to get the correct cone to fit the tyre balancing machine. |

I’m not sure where you’re getting this misleading information from, but AR Casting themselves confirm 6 different UK dealers, not sure why it matters anyway, ring around get a deal and be happy with it, ai got mine from JGS 4x4, with new nuts and a set of locking nuts thrown in, all genuine kit (with AR Casting delivery note left in one of the boxes to prove it), and way cheaper than Silverline ! I also have an original set of my WMIK too and to compare - there is no difference! Wolfie PS go with 265’s the MoD do ! |

Interesting that looking at Silverline's web-site the 'Blindo' can be had in ET45, ET25, ET15 and ET00 Rob

And why would you want any offset greater than ET15 anyway, just makes the wheel weaker by moving the stresses away from the centreline - only crazy people with little technical knowledge would ask for such foolishness ! |
